Cashiers play a critical customer service role at The Home Depot by providing customers with fast, friendly, accurate, and safe service. They are responsible for processing checkout and return transactions efficiently while maintaining the self-checkout area to ensure a smooth customer experience. Cashiers must have strong product and project knowledge to inform customers effectively and identify opportunities to assist with their needs. They strictly adhere to policies and procedures designed to minimize shrink and protect company assets.
The Head Cashier position involves additional responsibilities such as positioning cashiers on the floor, expediting price checks, and approving point-of-sale transactions and markdowns across various service areas including mainline registers, self-checkout, returns, pro desk, special services, and tool rental. Head Cashiers act as the first level of escalation for customer issues, helping to resolve conflicts promptly and professionally. They support the supervision, coaching, and training of other front-end associates by participating in onboarding new cashiers and utilizing available tools to develop their skills. This role requires at least one year of cashier experience and demonstrates leadership capabilities within the front-end team.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of cashier experience for Head Cashier role
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
