Job Description

This opportunity is with a reputable retail establishment known for its commitment to excellent customer service and maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly environment for both customers and employees. As a full-time retail associate, you will play a critical role in upholding the high standards set by G&M corporate, acting as a frontline representative for the company. This position is a non-managerial role that reports directly to the Store Manager and offers hourly compensation. The working environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to multitask and collaborate effectively within a team to ensure smooth operations and outstanding customer experiences throughout each shift.

In this role, you will be expected to handle a variety of responsibilities, including operating the point of sale system with precision, managing transactions involving cash, credit, and other payments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant sales policies and legal requirements such as ID checks for age-restricted products. You will also actively participate in sales promotions, practice suggestive selling, and contribute toward meeting sales goals. Additionally, you will ensure the store maintains its visual appeal and cleanliness, including stocking shelves, preparing hot food items, cleaning various areas, and managing product deliveries. There is an emphasis on safety and adhering to company policies related to theft prevention and emergency responses.

As part of the duties, this role also involves routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning floors, restocking condiments, and keeping food service areas sanitized, especially when assigned to Barista or night shifts. This position requires a flexible individual capable of working across multiple shifts and locations within the district when needed. Overall, the role demands strong interpersonal skills, excellent customer service abilities, a basic competency in computer use, especially with the PDI Enterprise POS system, and the capability to work effectively with minimal supervision while prioritizing safety and teamwork. Job Requirements

  • food handlers permit if required by store or county

  • have open availability to work all shifts as needed at home store and other stores within district when needed

Job Duties

  • Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and others at the work location
  • operate POS systems precisely and manage transactions accurately
  • enter all transactions into the register and account for all funds
  • perform service transactions in compliance with company policy including credit cards and coupon redemption
  • check identification for alcohol, tobacco, and lottery sales
  • actively participate in sales promotions
  • practice suggestive selling and build customer relations
  • review and adhere to all laws affecting store operations
  • maintain a neat personal appearance and uniform
  • prepare hot food items and maintain condiment bar
  • ensure store cleanliness including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
  • wipe down fuel delivery areas and maintain restrooms
  • perform regular cleaning of surfaces and store equipment
  • organize merchandise and backroom supplies
  • receive and stock product deliveries using proper techniques
  • inspect perishable products daily for freshness
  • follow company policy on safety and violence prevention
  • act as backup cashier during Barista shifts and manage POS transactions
  • brew fresh coffee and maintain food availability
  • clean floors and drains during night shifts including deep cleaning of restrooms and machines
  • prepare for morning rush by restocking and brewing coffee
