The role of Cashier is a vital front-of-house position responsible for managing guest relations and ensuring the accuracy and security of all financial transactions during each shift. This position requires a friendly, detail-oriented individual capable of multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Beyond handling payments, the Cashier contributes to the overall guest experience by preparing beverages such as coffee and tea, setting up and maintaining food and condiment displays, and assisting with general clean-up and stocking duties.

Key responsibilities include verifying the opening cash amount, processing sales accurately, answering phone calls, and engaging guests with upselling and suggestive selling techniques to promote the company's products. The Cashier also performs duties typically associated with a barista, including making specialty drinks, frosting cakes, and cutting bars and brownies. This role extends to maintaining cleanliness and organization at the front of the house, ensuring a well-stocked environment, and supporting additional functions like food delivery, bussing, and restroom cleanliness when needed.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in point of sale (POS) systems, possess basic math skills for handling transactions, and demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests and coworkers. Prior experience in a restaurant or retail setting, especially involving cash handling, is preferred. Job Requirements

  • state food handler card/servsafe certification as applicable
  • preferably a minimum of 3 months work experience in a cash handling capacity
  • restaurant or retail environment preferred
  • possess strong guest service and communication skills
  • organized and detail oriented
  • proficient in use of POS - point of sale systems
  • must be able to read, write and speak English
  • must be proficient in basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Job Duties

  • makes coffee/tea and other drinks as required - serves as barista for specialty drinks
  • packages sweets and cakes
  • sets up and maintains abundant displays/changes out displays based on time of day
  • responsible for condiment station set up
  • responsible for FOH set up (table tents/stanchion signs, etc.)
  • responsible for cashier station to include operation and cash flow
  • verify initial cash
  • ensures accurate financial transactions

  • can describe food offerings/allergens/nutrition
  • engages in upselling and suggestive selling of our products
  • frost cakes
  • responsible for maintaining a stocked FOH

  • alerts manager to any guest issues for immediate resolution
  • smile, friendly, takes appropriate action to guest requests
