- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and effectively control loss
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management
- Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
