Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • capable of performing friendly and courteous customer relations with composure
  • communicate effectively using hearing and speech
  • complete written forms accurately
  • visually inspect merchandise and read product information
  • lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • stand or sit for extended periods and move rapidly as required
  • operate check stand equipment including cash registers, scanners, and scales
  • demonstrate manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
  • memorize detailed information such as PLU codes and company procedures
  • ensure accurate scanning and monetary transaction handling
  • occasionally use blades safely for box cutting
  • use household cleaners to maintain clean work areas
  • handle high-volume customer transactions while maintaining composure
  • comply with all state and local laws including food safety and sales certifications where applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous retail or cashier experience is an asset
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • proficiency in operating cash registers and scanning equipment
  • excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • ability to learn and recall PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
  • strong interpersonal skills to handle high-stress and volatile situations
  • capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly and cooperative service to customers
  • operate check stand equipment such as cash register, scanner, and scale
  • engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
  • process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, and coupons
  • maintain knowledge of product location and proper pricing
  • keep check stand clean, stocked, and secure
  • stock, price, and rotate merchandise
  • assist at multi-station self-checkout lanes
  • manage customer service counter tasks
  • follow state and federal laws on restricted sales
  • adhere to USDA Food Stamp and WIC voucher procedures
  • proactively assist customers at self-checkout stations
  • monitor multiple transactions simultaneously
  • clear alerts and errors at self-checkout lanes
  • maintain safety and cleanliness in work areas
