Job Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
- ability to communicate by hearing and speech to perform customer relation tasks

- ability to conduct visual inspections and read information on merchandise
- ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- ability to operate check stand equipment including cash registers, scanners and scales
- ability to stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- must be 16 years of age or older
- manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- ability to memorize extensive information including PLU codes, product locations, check stand and keyboard procedures and company policies
- ability to ensure accuracy in scanning and verifying sales and handling monetary transactions using mental alertness and basic math skills
- occasionally use blades for box cutting
- ability to use household cleaners to maintain work area
- ability to efficiently and accurately perform primary duties
- ability to manage potentially high stress situations and handle unsatisfied customers
- must comply with state and local food safety/handler cards and sales certifications as required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous retail or customer service experience a plus
- ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
- basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- ability to operate cash registers, scanners and scales
- strong manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- ability to learn and memorize product codes and store procedures
- ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- ability to handle high stress and volatile customer situations with composure
- ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- must be at least 16 years of age
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- operate check stand equipment such as a cash register, scanner and scale to process customer orders using two aisles
- engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, traveler checks, food stamps, coupons, and refunds
- maintain knowledge of product locations, monitor UPC codes and ensure proper pricing
- maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stand and ensure safe and secure work area
- stock, price and rotate merchandise
- perform other duties as assigned or needed
- follow all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items such as tobacco and alcohol
- adhere to USDA Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- regularly move within SCO area to expedite transactions and maintain attentive presence
- initiate and engage contact with customers at self-checkout stations
- respond to SCO station alerts and errors
- monitor multiple simultaneous transactions and verify payment
- actively engage with customers at self-checkout kiosks to assist in transactions and limit shrinkage
- prioritize safety by addressing or reporting concerns according to company policy
