Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
- Ability to work in varied retail temperature environments
- Ability to comply with all PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines
- Must be able to follow company cash handling and security policies
- Willingness to perform various tasks including stocking and cross-department assignments

Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
- Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- Understand use of check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, and belts
- Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items including newspapers, periodicals, and candy
- Ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs and report pricing or signage errors
- Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
- Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and the sale of regulated products
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department and comply with safety and sanitation standards
- May assist with stocking items
- Follow all PPE, safety guidelines, food safety, cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines
- May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
