Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • Prior cashier or courtesy clerk experience is preferred
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers actively and courteously
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale system
  • Handle various forms of payment including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sale items
  • Report pricing discrepancies and follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current, seasonal, and special promotions and ads
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and store safety procedures
  • Identify and communicate unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions and supporting individuals with special needs
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment while managing conflict reasonably
  • Follow legal and company guidelines carefully
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
