Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • handle a variety of products including dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy products, produce, poultry, fish, beef, and pork
  • process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • understand and efficiently use check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, and belts
  • perform front-end merchandising duties including newspapers, periodicals, and candy
  • ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs
  • report errors in pricing or signage
  • maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations
  • communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
  • comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and the sale of restricted items
  • maintain a clean and well-stocked department
  • assist with stocking items as needed
  • adhere to PPE and safety guidelines
  • follow food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • perform tasks in other departments when assigned
  • take on additional responsibilities as needed
