Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers with composure
- Ability to communicate (hearing and speech) to perform customer relation tasks
- Ability to complete written forms
- Ability to conduct visual inspection and read information on merchandise
- Ability to lift and maneuver objects of varying weights up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to learn and memorize a considerable amount of information including PLU codes and company policies
- Ability to ensure accuracy in scanning and verifying sales and handling monetary transactions with mental alertness and basic math skills
- Occasionally use blades for box cutting
- Ability to use household cleaners to maintain work area
- Ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately
- Ability to navigate and manage high stress situations and unsatisfied customers
- Required food safety/handler cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification as applicable by law

- Must comply with company policies and applicable laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or cashier experience is an asset
- Ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and coworkers
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to learn and memorize a considerable amount of information including PLU codes and company policies
- Strong communication skills including hearing and speech
- Ability to operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales
- Able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- Operate check stand equipment such as a cash register, scanner and scale to process customer orders using two aisles
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- Process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, travelers checks, food stamps, coupons, and refunds
- Understand and adhere to all cash handling and lane accountability policies and procedures
- Maintain knowledge of current product location, monitor UPC codes and ensure proper pricing
- Maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stand and ensure safe work area
- Stock, price and rotate merchandise
- May be assigned to a multi station self-checkout lane as needed
- May be assigned to the customer service counter as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
- Follow all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items such as tobacco and alcohol
- Adhere to USDA food stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- Regularly move within self-checkout area to expedite transactions and keep area clear of safety hazards
- Initiate and engage contact with customers at self-checkout kiosks
- Respond to SCO stations to review and clear alerts and errors
- Monitor multiple simultaneous transactions and verify payment in a fast paced setting
- Actively engage with customers to assist in transactions and limit shrinkage
- Maintain high awareness of self-checkout area and anticipate customer needs
- Prioritize safety of employees and customers by addressing or reporting concerns
