Job Duties

Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
Understand and adhere to limits on cash shortages and/or overages to control loss
Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel
Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products
Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues
Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
