Job Duties

  • actively greet, engage, and assist customers
  • process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
  • handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
  • adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work to control loss
  • understand and follow guidelines on restricted sale items like alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions or accidents
  • perform preventive equipment maintenance and report needed repairs
  • answer customer questions about products sold in the department and store
  • adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
  • work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
