Job Requirements
- Less than high school education or equivalent experience
- Six months or less of related work experience
- Ability to carry out detailed instructions
- Ability to perform simple math calculations
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to perform medium work including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to perform physical activities like climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Visual acuity with or without correction
- Adherence to company hygiene and dress standards
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willingness to work in noisy and temperature-variable environments
Job Qualifications

- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Capacity to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Effective communication skills to request supplies orally or in writing
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting customer suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and takes customer orders
- Takes customer orders at the counter
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Handles food safely and ensures the work area is clean and neat
- Reviews the status and appearance of food for freshness
- Ensures an adequate food supply is ready and follows a production list
- Anticipates daily product needs
- Prepares and replenishes products as necessary
- Checks in product, puts it away, and may review invoices
- Runs department registers and handles payments when applicable
- Removes trash timely
- Adheres to department and company guidelines regarding hygiene and dress
- Reports to work on schedule and on time
- Performs secondary duties including washing dishes, ordering products and supplies, pricing products, assisting in other store areas, and completing special projects as required
