Job Description
This job opportunity is with a well-established restaurant that operates as a casual, fast-paced dining environment focusing on delivering quality food and excellent customer service to its guests. The company is dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience by serving delicious meals efficiently and with a friendly attitude. Known for its commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction, the restaurant offers an energetic atmosphere where team members play a vital role in upholding the brand's reputation and standards. The position of Carhop is essential in ensuring that guests receive their orders promptly and accurately, contributing directly to the overall guest satisfaction and dining experience.
The role of Carhop requires a highly motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic restaurant setting. This nonexempt, part-time or full-time role reports directly to the Manager on Duty (MOD) and involves serving food and beverages to guests while maintaining an upbeat and courteous demeanor. An important aspect of the role is ensuring that the product meets specific operational, quality, and appearance standards before delivering it to the customers. Carhops are responsible for carrying trays that may weigh up to 25 pounds and balancing these trays while navigating to guests’ vehicles or seating areas.
Carhops provide friendly, quick, and polite service as they respond promptly to guest requests and assist with payment processes, including making accurate change. In addition to delivering orders, Carhops are expected to clear trays and trash from guests’ vehicles and surrounding areas such as patios, drive-thru lanes, and parking lots. Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards is imperative to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Regular cleaning and sanitation duties form a key part of the role, requiring employees to perform tasks such as trash disposal, mopping, sweeping, washing dishes and food preparation tools, wiping counters, sanitizing food prep areas, cleaning equipment, and emptying used grease.
The job includes additional responsibilities like handling product movement and stocking, which may involve lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. For those Carhops trained in skating, performing duties while on roller skates is an exciting and physically engaging aspect of the job, with specific training requirements to meet. Shift schedules involve irregular hours with expectations to work nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to serve guests whenever they visit.
Candidates who apply for the Carhop position should have general restaurant or retail knowledge, possess effective verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to follow directions. Basic math and reading skills are necessary, along with strong customer service capabilities and the aptitude to multitask in a busy restaurant environment. The work environment includes frequent standing, bending, reaching, and other physical activities. Additionally, depending on job specifics and location, Carhops might be frequently exposed to heat, hot liquids, cold storage environments, and varying weather conditions when working outdoors.
This role offers a unique opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with people in a fast-paced setting and who take pride in delivering outstanding guest experiences. The restaurant provides a supportive team atmosphere where employees can grow and develop their skills while contributing positively to the guest service process. The Carhop role is ideal for those looking for a physically active job that combines hospitality with a sense of fun and community engagement within the restaurant's operational framework.
