Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of employment experience as a home care aide or personal care aide
  • Current CNA, HCA, or NAR certification
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Food Handlers certified
  • Able to communicate fluently in English verbally and in writing
  • Willing to work up to two weekends per month
  • Able to perform physical tasks including standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting, pushing residents up to 150 pounds unassisted, and transferring residents weighing over 125 pounds
  • Able to work in an environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Able to respect resident privacy and rights
  • Must follow agency policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of employment experience as a home care aide or personal care aide
  • Current CNA, HCA, or NAR certification
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Food Handlers certified
  • Experience working with cognitive decline or dementia preferred
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Demonstrates professional and high ethical standards
  • Effective communication and positive relationship skills

Job Duties

  • Follows the home care plan of care developed by the agency
  • Assists clients with personal care including bathing, shampooing, shaving, toileting, dressing, transfers, ambulation, and positioning
  • Performs household services such as laundry, meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation, and shopping
  • Observes, documents, and reports any changes in clients' condition
  • May assist with medications as per care plan and agency policy
  • Reports changes in clients' mental or physical condition to the Administrator or designee
  • Follows agency policies and procedures
  • Respects clients', families', or representatives' differing beliefs, opinions, cultures, and customs
