The role available is a direct support professional position, either full-time or part-time, classified as non-exempt and compensated hourly at a rate of $15.30 per hour for the 2nd shift from 3 pm to 11 pm, with a schedule that includes every other Monday, Friday, and every other weekend. This position supports individuals in residential or periodic program settings, typically working with 4 to 10 individuals. The direct support professional is responsible for delivering assistance aligned with individual service/program plans. Key responsibilities include socialization, personal care, health maintenance, medication administration, and behavioral skill development to ensure clients lead balanced and enriched lives. This role also involves assisting with daily living activities such as housekeeping, recreational involvement, transportation, community integration, shopping, and citizenship activities.
Essential job functions encompass a broad spectrum of service and support duties designed to uphold the dignity and independence of clients. The professional provides personalized assistance, accurately documents progress, maintains confidentiality, manages individuals' assets within budget, and fosters healthy relationships with clients, their families, and other stakeholders. Reporting suspected abuse or neglect and practicing universal precautions are critical to maintaining safety and compliance. The role includes health care responsibilities such as accompanying individuals to medical appointments, medication administration or supervision, and monitoring overall health status with appropriate communication to nurses or supervisors. Additionally, the professional supports meal preparation in line with dietary needs and preferences.
Employment responsibilities emphasize continuous training, adherence to scheduled shifts, teamwork, workplace safety, and active participation in safety drills. Maintenance duties could involve safe transport of individuals following local laws, housekeeping, minor repairs, and safety checks of living environments. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- Active South Carolina driver's license for the last 12 months
- Car registration and vehicle insurance if providing transportation
- Complete all state-required training and certifications within mandated timeframes
- Maintain valid driver's license and meet company driving record requirements
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Six months of experience in human services preferred
- Working knowledge of computers
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform heavy work
Job Duties
- Provide direct support according to individual service plans
