The Career Development Center at CSULB is currently seeking an Event and Conference Planner II to join their team in a full-time, temporary role with a one-year appointment. This position is vital to the successful connection between students and employers, acting as a lead in planning, coordinating, and executing various career events such as job fairs, recruitment events, on-campus interviews, and information sessions. Reporting directly to the Director and Assistant Director of Employer Engagement, the successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating and sustaining robust relationships with employers who provide internships and job opportunities for students. This role also includes managing the technical and operational facets of the Career Services Management system, ensuring an efficient and user-friendly experience for employers, students, and staff.

The Event and Conference Planner II position demands a student-centered and equity-minded approach, providing culturally sensitive services that enhance campus life, student retention, and graduation rates. The role emphasizes communication with a diverse student population, collaboration with various campus stakeholders, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment. The position offers a competitive salary ranging from $4,617 to $5,518 per month, commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training, with the overall CSU classification salary range extending up to $6,727 per month. Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to bachelor's degree
  • Two years of related experience
  • Valid CA driver's license
  • Ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse communities
  • Ability to follow university policies and procedures
  • Ability to contribute to positive university experience for students
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Completed mandatory Defensive Driving Course if operating vehicle
  • Enrollment in DMV Employee Pull Notice Program
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect in the workplace

Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to bachelor's degree
  • Two years of related experience
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ethnically and culturally diverse groups
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in word processing, database management, and spreadsheets
  • Experience with Career Services Management Systems and Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong time management and problem-solving abilities

Job Duties

  • Coordinate, plan, develop and implement administrative policies and procedures for career events
  • Initiate, promote and maintain relationships with employers providing internships and jobs for students
  • Cultivate employer relations and serve as liaison between employers and students
  • Lead the development and use of the Career Services Management tool
  • Coordinate and recommend updates to the systems to improve user experience
  • Serve on campus committees representing the Career Development Center
  • Provide equitable, inclusive, culturally sensitive services enhancing campus life and student success
