- Familiarity with Availity or other referral authorization platforms
- Experience working in medically underserved or culturally diverse communities
- Medical office setting experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of ICD-20 and CPT coding
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
Job Duties
- Review referral requests generated by primary care physicians and onsite specialists
- Coordinate appointment date and time for patients
- Inform patients of appointment details and special test preparations, schedule transportation as needed
- Secure patient information and maintain confidential health records
- Review open referral reports daily to ensure all reports are received before patient visits
- Process a minimum of twenty referral orders per day
- Process all referral authorizations per health plan protocols and systems such as Availity
- Coordinate procedures for surgical clearance and ensure complete documentation is forwarded
- Schedule urgent referral appointments per physician or specialist request
- Inform primary care physicians via EHR documentation of missed appointments and reschedule as needed
- Scan and index documents into the EHR ensuring availability prior to visits
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams related to patient care plans and outcomes
- Aid coworkers to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service
- Perform other duties as assigned
