The position available is within the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network, a dedicated group that supports both primary care and specialist physicians in delivering excellent, coordinated care to their patients. The network's physicians and staff work collaboratively to provide seamless access to primary and specialty care, maintaining high standards recognized by various healthcare associations. In this role, the successful candidate will utilize ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic studies as requested by physicians, supporting accurate medical diagnoses. Responsibilities include performing a variety of technical ultrasound procedures, acquiring echocardiographic measurements, creating digital preliminary reports, and communicating these findings to physicians. The role requires strict adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety standards while providing high-quality imaging services. Patient education and preparation for ultrasound studies are also integral aspects of the job.

The position demands a team-oriented approach, fostering a positive and service-focused environment within the department. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of clinical report data, demographic information, and billing details to support the medical team's needs effectively. Supporting guidelines and standards set by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) is an essential part of the role to ensure consistent quality and compliance.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a CAAHEP or accredited diagnostic ultrasound program or 5 years of diagnostic ultrasound experience
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification must be valid at least 60 days from the start date

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP or other accredited diagnostic ultrasound program required or 5 years of diagnostic ultrasound experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required (BLS expiration date must be valid 60 days from the start date)
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer preferred

Job Duties

  • Uses appropriate techniques with ultrasound equipment to supply diagnostic studies based upon physician request
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures to support physician's diagnosis
  • Responsible for providing high quality imaging
  • Appropriately acquire echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings to the interpreting physician
  • Reviews physician order to verify appropriateness for order being performed
  • Retrieve studies from PACS for review
  • Perform appropriate infection control processes
  • Provide an environment of care that supports patient safety
  • Addresses patient educational needs as pertains to requested studies
  • Prepare patients for the study
  • Supports IAC Standards and Guidelines
  • Assures accuracy data for clinical reports, demographics and billing information for physician reports
  • Support team approach and service focus work with colleagues in a "team approach" to encourage a positive and service-oriented image for the department.
