Job Description
Rose's Restaurant Group is a renowned hospitality establishment operating some of Washington, D.C.'s most celebrated Michelin-starred dining venues including Rose's Luxury, Little Pearl, Pineapple and Pearls, and Extra Fancy, their international events company. Known for their commitment to elevating the dining experience, the Group has garnered multiple prestigious awards such as 2 Michelin Stars in 2017 and 2018, the AAA Five Diamond Award in 2018, and consistently high rankings in local dining guides including being named #1 in Washingtonian's Top 100 Restaurants in 2017. As a dynamic and forward-thinking company, Rose's Restaurant Group prides itself on creating a uniquely enjoyable work environment that equally values employee growth and guest satisfaction.
At the heart of their operations is a dedication to combining exceptional food, top-tier service, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere that removes the usual formality often associated with fine dining. Their mission to make their establishments the most enjoyable places to work and dine foregrounds their focus on communication, organization, and continuous learning. This culture encourages all team members—from cooks to managers—to develop their skills and leadership abilities while maintaining a supportive, vibrant work environment.
The role of Captain/Sommelier is a critical position in this award-winning team. Working primarily at Pineapple and Pearls, the Captain/Sommelier will help craft an exciting and enjoyable experience for every guest. This role goes beyond traditional fine dining service by striving to eliminate any awkwardness or stiffness, focusing instead on genuine hospitality and guest happiness. The Captain/Sommelier will be responsible for creating a welcoming and memorable atmosphere, ensuring that every aspect of service from food presentation to beverage selection is handled with precision and care.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, possess a strong knowledge of food and wine, and are eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment. The Captain/Sommelier will work closely with other team members such as managers, bartenders, and servers to ensure seamless service is delivered every night. This role requires someone who is dependable, motivated, and possesses excellent communication skills to contribute positively to the team and the overall guest experience.
As a full-time salaried position, Rose's Restaurant Group offers competitive benefits including 100% company-paid medical and dental insurance, an average 45-50 hour work week, unlimited paid time off, and many additional perks that support employee well-being and professional development. For those passionate about making people happy through exceptional dining experiences, this position offers a unique opportunity to join a world-class team where hustle meets heart, and fun is part of the daily routine.
