Job Requirements
- Must be at least twenty-one years of age
- High school graduate or possess equivalency, college degree preferred
- No felony convictions or guilty pleas related to violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances
- No other than honorable discharge from U.S. armed forces
- Fingerprints on file with Indiana State Police
- Good moral character
- Valid Indiana Operator's license
- Active duty member of an accredited law enforcement agency within Marion County
Job Qualifications
- Must be a certified police officer as per Indiana Code 5-2-1-17
- Completion of law enforcement academy curriculum approved by Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- College degree preferred
- Valid Indiana Operator's license
- Active duty member of an accredited law enforcement agency within Marion County
- Good moral character as determined by investigation
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Experience in law enforcement preferred
Job Duties
- Work closely with school administrators to maintain safe environments conducive to learning
- Serve as a law enforcement resource to school administration
- Provide security for student and staff parking lots and school facilities
- Respond to alarms involving school facilities
- Provide crowd control at special events
- Confer with principals to develop preventive plans and strategies
- Act as a visible law enforcement presence on and around school campuses
- Assist other law enforcement officers with investigations concerning students
- Serve as an information resource regarding gangs, truants, and school rivalries
- Act as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies
- Maintain neat, accurate, and current reports and records
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and community members
- Maintain confidentiality of school records
- Maintain required certifications, trainings, and competencies
- Perform other duties assigned by safety and security coordinators or administrators within law enforcement duties
