California State University, Sacramento, commonly known as Sacramento State, is a public university located in Sacramento, California. It is a comprehensive higher education institution committed to offering high-quality academic programs and fostering community engagement. The university values diversity, inclusivity, and the holistic development of students, aiming to cultivate leaders who will contribute meaningfully to society. The Campus Life division is integral to the student experience at Sacramento State, providing opportunities for students to engage outside the classroom through various activities, events, and programs that promote learning, leadership, and social connection. As part of Student Affairs, Campus Life creates a vibrant and supportive environment, encouraging students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
The Campus Life Events Coordinator position is a full-time, probationary staff role based in Sacramento. This role falls under the Unit 9 CSUEU classification, offering a competitive salary range between $5,079 and $7,399 per month, with salary placement depending on relevant qualifications and experience. The position features a standard work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend hours as departmental needs arise. The role is telecommute-eligible, requiring a mix of onsite and remote work as scheduled.
Reporting to the Communications and Program Specialist with general oversight from the Associate Vice President for Campus Life, the Campus Life Events Coordinator is tasked with the comprehensive planning, coordination, and management of professional education projects and special events. This includes signature campus events such as the annual "Arrive to the Hive" student engagement initiatives and a variety of Campus Life programming. The coordinator builds and maintains strong client relationships, collaborates with both internal teams and external vendors, and ensures events are executed at the highest standard of quality and customer service.
This role requires a high level of organizational expertise and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. The coordinator is responsible for developing event concepts, negotiating contracts, overseeing event implementation, monitoring budgets, and producing detailed reports post-event. Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence are critical, as is the ability to work independently while also leading volunteers, interns, and student assistants. The position requires proficiency with standard office software tools and strong communication skills to maintain confidentiality and foster positive, professional relationships across campus and beyond.
Sacramento State emphasizes a welcoming and inclusive work environment, and this role plays a key part in promoting this ethos through event planning and execution. The coordinator must be proactive, customer-oriented, and capable of addressing challenges creatively and effectively. They should be adaptable to changing demands and able to prioritize competing deadlines effectively, ensuring every event reinforces the sense of community and engagement central to Campus Life's mission.
