The Department of Food Services at the University of Miami Health System is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Cafeteria Worker (U) to join their team at the UHealth Tower location. This position offers an excellent opportunity for those interested in food service and hospitality within a dynamic and supportive academic medical environment. As a Cafeteria Worker, the successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting the food service activities of assigned facilities. Responsibilities include assisting in the preparation and distribution of various food items and maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary cafeteria environment. This role is integral to ensuring that all patients, visitors, and staff receive quality service in a timely and courteous manner.

The Cafeteria Worker will be involved in several day-to-day operations, including cleaning tables and dishes, setting tables, and replenishing supplies such as linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes. They will prepare salads, sauces, desserts, and other food items to meet the diverse needs of cafeteria customers. Additionally, this role involves operating the cash register to process customer bills, issuing receipts, washing pots, pans, and other cooking equipment, stocking snack and soda machines, and keeping the work and storage areas clean and organized.

The position requires a commitment to adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures to safeguard university assets. Employees in this role must follow strict food preparation guidelines to maintain health and safety standards. Another critical aspect of the role is adherence to the University’s CICARE and ACT standard models, which focus on patient and family-centric interactions, ensuring that the highest standards of service and communication are upheld when interacting with patients, their families, and visitors.
