The area offers residents a safe and welcoming environment with access to quality amenities and services, making it an attractive place to live and work. Education plays a significant role in the community, with a dedicated school district that focuses on providing students with a supportive and enriching environment to thrive academically and socially. The school district is committed to excellence, aiming to nurture the whole child through a variety of programs and initiatives that encourage learning, development, and personal growth.
The role of Cafeteria Monitor within the Yukon school system is a vital position that supports the effective operation of the cafeteria and ensures a positive dining experience for students. This role involves a variety of customer service and supervisory duties aimed at maintaining orderliness and cleanliness in the cafeteria during meal times. The Cafeteria Monitor is expected to use strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with students, assisting them through the serving line, guiding them to assigned tables when necessary, and circulating among tables to offer help and maintain a clean environment.
This position reports directly to the Building Principal, Director of Food Services, and Sodexo, the food service provider, and is critical in supporting the staff and students during meal periods. The Cafeteria Monitor not only helps with table management and cleanliness but also plays a key role in monitoring student behavior, reporting any disciplinary issues to school personnel, and supporting an orderly atmosphere. Additionally, the monitor assists with replenishing and cleaning the condiment areas to ensure that the dining environment remains inviting and hygienic.
Furthermore, the Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant national, state, Sodexo, and school district policies, as well as health department regulations. This ensures that food service operations meet the highest standards for safety and quality. In some cases, the monitor may also take on additional food service-related tasks as assigned by supervisors, contributing to the smooth operation of the cafeteria.
The employment terms include a 173-day work calendar aligned with school days, with hours varying by site, and the position is classified as non-exempt support staff. The role requires candidates who demonstrate reliability, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively with students and staff. Overall, the Cafeteria Monitor position offers an opportunity to be an essential part of the school community, helping to create a supportive, orderly, and pleasant meal environment for students to enjoy their lunches safely and comfortably.
