Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience in a similar environment
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety protocols
  • capability to perform medium work involving lifting up to 50 pounds
  • willingness to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • regular attendance
  • ability to work within set schedules related to school calendar
  • compliant with all health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cook in a similar setting preferred
  • ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to core values of character, communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to learn and use new software systems
  • bilingual as required by location

Job Duties

  • Ensures that all actions are in concert with Board policies and strategic plan
  • participates in job training and professional growth opportunities
  • performs other related duties to ensure efficient work environment
  • follows and completes production sheets daily
  • prepares menu items as per district recipes and menus
  • reviews menu items and ingredients ahead of service day
  • preps the appropriate amount of each menu item based on school enrollment and events
  • ensures equipment is operational and reports malfunctions
  • cleans and sanitizes prep areas and equipment
  • assists with inventory management and receiving orders
  • accommodates dietary modifications and food allergies
  • leads other cooks on site if applicable
  • follows all Health Department food safety and sanitation standards
