Job Description

Grand Central Bakery is a pioneering bakery established in 1989 that revolutionized the Northwest region by introducing rustic artisan breads to dining tables. Over the years, it has grown into a beloved local institution known not only for its exceptional baked goods but also for its commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices. As a Certified B Corporation, Grand Central Bakery operates with a strong focus on values, sustainability, and community impact, making it a part of a global movement that leverages business as a force for good. The company carefully sources ingredients with an emphasis on sustainability, invests in the wellbeing and development of its employees, and actively contributes to the communities where it operates, fostering a culture of responsibility and care. The bakery’s dedication to quality, environmental stewardship, and social integrity defines its brand and builds loyalty among customers who value conscientious consumption and quality artisan baking.

Joining Grand Central Bakery means becoming part of an enthusiastic and passionate team committed to creating vibrant, welcoming cafes. The role of a Cafe Team Member is crucial in maintaining the warm atmosphere and excellent service that customers have come to expect. This position involves preparing and serving delicious handcrafted foods and beverages while ensuring that every guest has a positive experience. Cafe Team Members are expected to uphold the company’s values and mission by delivering outstanding customer service using the established “3 Steps to Great Service.” Proficiency in company systems is required for accurately handling transactions and managing orders. Additionally, the role demands flexibility to work a variety of shifts—retail open, mid-shift, and retail close—and stations, commonly including the sandwich bar and barista station.

Working as a Cafe Team Member at Grand Central Bakery is a part-time position offering approximately 24 hours per week, with a pay rate of $16.96 per hour plus tips, which average between $7.00 and $9.00 per hour. Employees must be able to work Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays and be available to cover any shift needed, ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. The job requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced, busy environment, interacting with customers consistently while maintaining excellent service standards despite noise and frequent change.

This role suits people who are energetic, customer-focused, and eager to contribute to a collaborative and inclusive workplace. Grand Central Bakery values reliability and punctuality, so regular attendance is essential. Candidates should possess basic math skills, computer literacy, and hold a valid Food Handler’s Card, complying with all relevant health department guidelines. Previous food service experience is preferred but not mandatory, as the company provides training to help new employees succeed. The Cafe Team Member role provides an excellent opportunity to grow professionally within an organization that prioritizes ethical values, sustainable practices, and community involvement, making it an ideal job for individuals wanting to make a positive impact while developing hospitality skills.
