This cafe manager role is based in Chicago, IL, and offers an engaging opportunity for an experienced leader passionate about coffee, customer service, and team inspiration. The position is full-time with a salary of $75,000 per year, complemented by bonus opportunities, equity shares, and an extensive benefits package. The Cafe Manager will oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the La Colombe cafe, ensuring that every customer encounter is memorable and the staff is well-trained, motivated, and supported. This role encompasses operational management, inventory oversight, financial oversight, scheduling, and driving sales growth in alignment with café and company goals. The ideal candidate possesses at least five years of leadership experience in food service or retail, ideally with a cafe or coffee shop background, exceptional organizational skills, and a strong affinity for fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

In this position, the manager is expected to lead by example by inspiring and training the team to provide exceptional hospitality and coffee experiences. They will maintain high standards through strict quality control of food and beverage preparation, presentation, and service, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational protocols. The role demands a service-oriented mindset focused on cultivating authentic relationships with guests and exceeding service expectations consistently.

Operationally, the manager will oversee stock management, regular inventory reviews, and merchandising strategies to ensure optimal levels at all times. Managing opening and closing procedures, preparing financial reports, and drafting strategies for business growth fall within their purview. The schedule management must be efficient, cost-effective, and position staff effectively to optimize the customer experience during peaks and regular hours alike.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality with a focus on customer-facing roles (training provided)
  • Embodies One Dove principles - kindness, respect, deliciousness, efficiency, and cleanliness
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching, and twisting

Job Qualifications
