The Cafe Manager role at Urban Air is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Urban Air Cafe, ensuring the smooth running of kitchen and service areas, and delivering exceptional food and beverage service to guests. This hands-on role involves direct engagement in cooking, preparing, and serving food items while maintaining high standards of speed, efficiency, and customer friendliness. The Cafe Manager is expected to guide and manage the cafe team effectively, instilling a sense of urgency and teamwork while supporting a positive work environment. This position demands a detail-oriented leader who can execute all processes, handle inventory control, and maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards. The role requires active participation in training staff, managing schedules, and ensuring that the cafe consistently meets service and quality expectations. Job Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- minimum of two (2) years’ previous F&B experience (quick service and/or restaurant experience)
- 1-3 years’ management experience in the hospitality field preferred
- must have a current ServSafe or similar Food Handling Certification, or be willing to attain within the first 30 days of employment
Job Duties
- Support the proper execution of all processes, systems and standards
- ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged
- maintain effective inventory control, storage, and rotation to minimize wastage
- manage the cafe team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
- adhere to scheduled shifts and willingness to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
- train cafe staff in preparing the full menu and front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
- set a high standard and good example for cafe staff regarding punctuality, attendance and attitude and ensure these standards are always maintained
- set a high standard and good example for cafe staff regarding cleanliness and hygiene, including a regular deep clean schedule
- maintain a clear, well-organized and easy-to-access cafe
- handle guest concerns regarding the cafe
- participate in regular staff meetings and training as and when required
- other duties as tasked by general manager
