The role of Café Lead at Urban Air Knoxville offers a hands-on and dynamic opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and team leadership. This position is centered on overseeing the shift operations within the Urban Air Café, a critical component of the guest experience at the park. The Café Lead is responsible for managing the shift’s workflow in the kitchen and service areas, actively engaging in preparing, cooking, and serving food while ensuring high standards of quality and hospitality.

This role requires a fast-paced attitude combined with a friendly, guest-focused approach, embodying the spirit of speed and service excellence. The Café Lead guides and supports the team, setting expectations for performance, punctuality, and professionalism. Key responsibilities include managing deliveries and inventory, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and ensuring the café adheres to all health and safety regulations. Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
  • Minimum of six months to one year of prior food and beverage experience (Quick Service and/or restaurant experience)
  • One year of leadership experience preferred
  • Must have a current ServSafe or similar food handling certification, or be willing to get one within the first 30 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Support the proper execution of all processes, systems, and standards
  • Ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged in the event the Café Manager is not present
  • Maintain storage and rotation to minimize wastage
  • Manage the Café Team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
  • Adhere to scheduled shifts and have the willingness to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
  • Train Café Team in preparing the full menu and the front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
  • Set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding punctuality, attendance, and attitude
  • ensure these standards are maintained at all times
  • Set a high standard and good example for the Café Team regarding cleanliness and hygiene, including a regular deep clean schedule
  • Maintain well-organized and easy-to-access Café and storage areas
  • Handle guest concerns regarding the Café in absence of the Café Manager
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training as and when required
