The role of Chef at Tatte is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. Chefs are charged with the success and growth of their kitchen team, which may include up to 25 employees such as cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. This role requires not only culinary expertise but also strong managerial skills to engage, inspire, and lead a cohesive team. The Chef ensures that all food production and service run according to established guidelines, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. Responsibilities include following standardized recipes, managing portioning and presentation to meet company standards, and conducting regular quality checks by tasting completed meals.
As an Executive Chef or Cafe Head Chef at Tatte, you will be involved in training kitchen staff in vital areas like food preparation, proper and safe handling techniques, equipment operation, as well as food safety and sanitation in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. You will establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Inventory management is also a key part of the role, balancing cost control with product availability and minimizing waste. Participation in departmental meetings, staff development programs, and ongoing professional training is expected to maintain a dynamic and knowledgeable kitchen team.
The position demands a flexible work schedule aligned with sales trends and business needs, which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires standing, walking, squatting, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods. - proven passion for culinary excellence and exceeding guest expectations
- knowledge and proficiency of systems, methods and processes that contribute to great execution
