The establishment offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for its guests, supported by a passionate team dedicated to excellence in every aspect of the operation. The company’s focus on quality ingredients, artisanal food preparation, and community engagement has made it a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike. This role is part of their greater Boston market team, emphasizing community and customer connection while maintaining high culinary standards.
The Chef position at Tatte is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations within the café. This role requires managing up to 25 kitchen team members, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, ensuring smooth and efficient service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Chef is tasked with maintaining exceptional food quality by adhering to standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards. The Executive Chef ensures the kitchen runs according to established guidelines, utilizes daily production worksheets, and manages waste logs to drive operational efficiencies.
As a Chef at Tatte, you will play a critical role in training staff on food preparation, safe handling practices, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation in compliance with company and regulatory standards. The role also includes maintaining cleaning and maintenance schedules to preserve kitchen hygiene and functionality. Inventory management is another key component, where you must keep stock within guidelines while ensuring necessary products are available at all times.
This role requires a passion for culinary excellence paired with strong leadership skills capable of inspiring and engaging the kitchen team. You will actively participate in departmental meetings, staff development sessions, and professional programs to continually raise the café’s operational standards. The implementation of seasonal menu changes also falls under your responsibilities, ensuring Tatte stays innovative and aligned with customer preferences.
This position demands flexibility in scheduling with availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate. Physical stamina is essential, as the role involves extended periods of standing, walking, and performing manual tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Successful candidates typically have 3-5 years of progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, a proven passion for exceeding guest expectations, excellent communication skills, and strong organizational abilities. The role offers competitive compensation, with salaries for the Café Head Chef role ranging from $71,000 to $91,000 plus, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
