Urban Air Tacoma is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Café Team Members to join their team. This role involves serving guests efficiently with food and drink at the Urban Air Café, which is an integral part of the overall guest experience. Team members will spend their working hours both in the kitchen and service areas, performing tasks such as cashiering, cooking, preparing, and serving food, all while maintaining an excellent standard of guest service and care. The successful candidate must work quickly with a sense of urgency without compromising the quality of service offered to guests.
Café Team Members at Urban Air are essential for creating a welcoming and clean environment where guests feel valued. Responsibilities include managing queues, upselling products to maximize profits, and handling initial guest complaints sensitively and professionally. The role requires strict adherence to health code regulations, accurate food preparation, proper stock rotation, and maintaining well-organized kitchen and storage areas. Team members will be expected to actively participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and company policies.
This role requires a friendly, engaging personality with effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Working comfortably with the public and providing a sincere and warm guest welcome is crucial. Candidates should have a willingness to learn, take instruction, and work proactively, supporting their colleagues and multitasking effectively. Physical demands include working days, nights, or weekends as required, standing for long periods, operating in a noisy and fast-paced environment, and lifting items up to 30 pounds.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- previous restaurant/quick service experience preferred
- basic math skills of adding and subtracting required
- ServSafe or similar food handling certification preferred
Job Duties
- Demonstrate the highest standards of guest relations and care when assisting guests at the counter
- give advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to guests to ensure a positive experience and repeat business
- ensure adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for the Café area
- manage queues and exceed guest expectations
- upsell to maximize profit
- keep Café and surrounding areas tidy and clean
- handle guest complaints in the first instance and report feedback to the Leadership Team
- work within established guidelines and operating procedures
- measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
- properly cook and store food items at appropriate temperatures
- rotate stock items as per established procedure
- ensure compliance with all health code regulations
- maintain clear, well-organized kitchen and storage areas
- participate in regular staff meetings and training, as required
- other duties as tasked by Leadership
