The Urban Air Café is a vital component of the guest experience, providing delicious food and drinks to visitors. As a Café BOH/FOH Team Member, you will play an essential role in delivering exceptional guest service through various responsibilities in both front and back of house operations. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about great customer service. The position involves tasks ranging from welcoming and assisting guests, taking orders, and cashiering, to working efficiently behind the scenes by preparing, cooking, and presenting food items according to quality standards. Emphasizing speed, accuracy, and a high sense of urgency, the team member must maintain cleanliness and organization in all café areas while following health codes and safety protocols.

You will be expected to demonstrate superior guest relations by engaging warmly with customers, advising them on our menu selections for the best experience, and managing queue systems during busy times to maximize service efficiency and profitability. Handling guest feedback promptly and professionally supports the continuous improvement of our service quality. Team members must consistently be proactive, organized, and cooperative, participating in training sessions and staff meetings to stay current on operational procedures and advance their skill set. This position requires a friendly and engaging personality, good communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. The physical demands of this role include standing for extended periods, working in a noisy and fast-paced environment, and the occasional lifting of items up to 30 pounds.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
  • some college preferred
  • previous restaurant or quick service experience preferred
  • basic math skills of adding and subtracting required
  • servsafe or similar food handling certification preferred

Job Duties

  • demonstrate the highest standards of guest relations and care when assisting guests at the counter
  • give advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to guests to ensure a positive experience and repeat business
  • ensure adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for the café area
  • manage queues and exceed guest expectations
  • upsell to maximize profit
  • keep café and surrounding areas tidy and clean
  • handle guest complaints in the first instance and report feedback to the leadership team
