The role of Cafe Team Member at Urban Air Lake Jackson is an essential part of this vibrant environment. The Cafe Team Member is primarily responsible for efficiently serving guests with food and drinks in the Urban Air Cafe. This position requires a balance of kitchen and service area duties, including cashiering, interacting with guests, cooking, preparing, and serving food. The ideal candidate will work quickly with a strong sense of urgency while maintaining the highest standards of guest service and care.

This role demands excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to ensure every guest has a positive experience. The team member will provide recommendations on products and menu items, manage stock levels, keep the Cafe and surrounding areas clean and orderly, and handle guest complaints professionally with appropriate escalation to the Leadership Team when necessary. Proper food handling, storage, and health code compliance are also critical responsibilities.

Team members are expected to work within established guidelines and procedures, participate in staff meetings and training sessions, and perform other duties as assigned by leadership. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment suited for individuals who are friendly, organized, multitask effectively, and enjoy working with the public. This position may require working flexible hours including days, nights, and weekends, in a noisy, busy setting. Candidates should be prepared to stand for extended periods and be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Job Requirements

  • Have a friendly and engaging personality and is a good written and verbal communicator
  • able to work under pressure
  • Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing good service
  • Willingness to learn, take instruction and work under own initiative, supporting other team members and able to multitask

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
  • Previous restaurant/quick service experience preferred
  • Basic math skills of adding and subtracting required
  • ServSafe or similar food handling certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate the highest standards of guest relations and care when assisting guests at the counter
  • Give advice, guidance and recommendations on products and menu selection to guests to ensure a positive experience and repeat business
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for the Cafe area
  • Manage queues and exceed guest expectations
  • upsell to maximize profit
  • Keep Cafe and surrounding areas tidy and clean
  • this includes, but is not limited to, table clearing, removing and washing dishes, and taking out the trash
  • Handle guest complaints in the first instance and report feedback to the Leadership Team
  • Work within established guidelines and operating procedures
  • Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
  • Properly cook and store food items at appropriate temperatures
  • Rotate stock items as per established procedure
  • Ensure compliance with all health code regulations
  • Maintain clear, well-organized kitchen and storage areas
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and training, as required
  • Other duties as tasked by Leadership
