The Cook position at CommonSpirit Memorial plays a critical role in supporting patient, staff, and visitor wellness through the preparation of nutritious, safe, and flavorful meals. The role requires a strong dedication to culinary excellence in a healthcare setting, where multiple therapeutic diets must be accommodated with precision and care. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food that adheres strictly to dietary guidelines and food safety regulations governed by both state and federal authorities. This includes following safe cooking techniques, maintaining rigorous quality control, and executing recipes with accuracy to ensure consistent food quality every day. The position is fast-paced and demands someone who can thrive in high-volume food preparation while maintaining attention to detail and food safety standards.

Working in this role, you will utilize a variety of kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills to prepare and modify meals with sensitivity to allergies and dietary restrictions. Hygiene and sanitation are paramount, as you will actively participate in cleaning duties and daily maintenance to ensure a safe and sanitary cooking and serving environment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in healthcare foodservice settings, who have a strong understanding of therapeutic diets, and who take pride in contributing to a healing environment through quality nutrition. Job Duties

  • Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements, using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills
  • modifies preparations to account for food allergies
  • follows healthcare foodservice industry standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes
  • avoids cross-contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements
  • maintains labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery
  • performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas
  • slicing meats, preparing both specialty and custom sandwiches to order
