The opportunity available is for a part-time early morning Barista position at one of Portland Coffee Roasters' cafes located in the Portland International Airport (PDX). This role is tailored for individuals who are passionate about serving high-quality coffee and providing exceptional customer service to the diverse and fast-paced crowd of airport travelers and Port of Portland employees. It involves working three days a week from Friday to Sunday with starting shifts as early as 3 AM, 4 AM, or 5 AM, ensuring readiness to cater to early travelers with freshly prepared beverages.

The Barista position is more than just coffee preparation; it embodies the company's mission by delivering a warm, welcoming atmosphere and expert knowledge of Portland Coffee Roasters' unique coffee offerings. Employees receive comprehensive in-house training to advance their espresso and coffee-making skills continuously. Additionally, this position fosters involvement in coffee tastings and ongoing education to keep staff well-informed about the latest trends and standards in the coffee industry.

This role reports directly to the Cafe Manager and requires excellent interpersonal skills, product knowledge, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace that upholds the high standards of Portland Coffee Roasters. Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages that adhere to Portland Coffee Roasters freshness, quality and presentation standards
  • Ensure customers are warmly received and welcomed
  • engage customers in a sincere, friendly and professional manner
  • Maintain coffee knowledge on all Portland Coffee Roasters offerings and confidently and accurately communicate that knowledge to customers
  • Actively participate in coffee and tea tastings to further product knowledge and help identify any issues or deficiencies
  • Complete and attend all mandatory and ongoing training sessions required by Portland Coffee to constantly advance education on coffee, tea, merchandise, and espresso bar skills
  • Adhere to all company and PDX Port policies and protocols including those for cash handling, safety and security all while maintaining a clean and organized work space
  • Ensure that the companys brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well-organized and stocked coffee bar
  • Uphold Portland Coffee Roasters standards regarding merchandising, inventory and rotation of store products
  • Offer relevant, thoughtful, ideas and suggestions for improving operations
  • Ensure adherence to our dress code, as well as all food safety and OSHA safety requirements
