Job Description
Abundant Church is a vibrant and welcoming community-focused establishment dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and creating meaningful connections among its members. As a faith-based organization, Abundant Church is committed not only to ministry and worship but also to providing exceptional services to its congregation and visitors. One of the key components of this mission includes the operation of a café that serves as a warm, inviting space for fellowship, relaxation, and outreach. The Cafe department, part of the Early Learning Program (ELP), plays an essential role in this mission by ensuring that all guests experience friendly customer service and enjoy high-quality beverage options in a comfortable and safe environment.
The part-time position of Café Barista at Abundant Church offers a unique opportunity for individuals who want to combine excellent customer service with a faith-centered work environment. Reporting directly to the Café Manager, the Barista will work predominantly on Sundays, contributing between 10-12 hours per week. This non-exempt, part-time role is designed to support the church’s hospitality efforts by preparing and serving beverages such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks to the congregation and visitors of the church.
The Barista role is more than just preparing drinks. It embodies the spirit of service by putting people first—building, blessing, helping, and ministering to those who come through the café doors. The Barista is responsible for crafting beverages according to specific recipes, taking customer orders attentively with an eye for individual preferences, and maintaining a clean, welcoming workspace. The position demands vigilance in adhering to health and safety regulations, ensuring that all equipment, tools, and seating areas are sanitized regularly for the comfort and well-being of all patrons.
Beyond the technical skills, the Café Barista is expected to live out the core values and culture of Abundant Church, supporting its vision and ministries wholeheartedly. The role strongly emphasizes teamwork, ongoing learning, and a servant-hearted approach to work, aligned with the spiritual mission of the church. Baristas will be part of a dynamic team that not only delivers excellent service but also embodies stewardship and hospitality as expressions of faith. This job offers a unique blend of practical café duties alongside the chance to support a community’s spiritual journey and outreach.
Overall, the Café Barista at Abundant Church is a part-time, non-ministerial role vital to creating a positive and nurturing environment. It invites applicants who are passionate about hospitality, skilled in communication, and eager to contribute to a faith-centered community experience. The role includes training volunteers, highlighting the importance of leadership and collaboration within a ministry context. With a commitment to the Abundant Lifestyle Agreement and the Abundant Culture Guide, the Barista joins a workplace focused on people, service, and spiritual growth.
