Job Description

The Navigators is a well-established faith-based organization dedicated to advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His kingdom throughout the nations. Founded on strong spiritual values, The Navigators focus heavily on developing spiritual generations of laborers who live and disciple among lost communities. This organization's mission is grounded in service, outreach, and community cohesion, aiming to bring spiritual growth and transformation across diverse locations. The Navigators provide a supportive environment for their staff and volunteers to grow in faith and professional skills while contributing positively to the organization's calling and broader goals.

The position of Bookstore Attendant at The Navigators represents an integral role that combines customer service, retail operations, and food and beverage preparation within the Glen Eyrie campus. Glen Eyrie serves as a key location for The Navigators’ mission and outreach efforts, offering resources such as the bookstore and café to both visitors and members of the community. Working at the Glen Eyrie Bookstore requires a dynamic individual passionate about supporting the spiritual mission while providing excellent customer experiences. This role is part-time, offering 3-4 shifts per week with flexible hours that include days, nights, and weekends. Compensation for this position is an hourly rate of $15.60.

As a Bookstore Attendant, the successful candidate will devote the majority of their time managing bookstore operations, providing outstanding customer service, and assisting visitors with their purchases and inquiries. This involves handling point-of-sale transactions efficiently and ensuring that the bookstore remains stocked and organized. Additionally, the attendant plays a vital role in the café operation by taking customer food and beverage orders and preparing these items according to quality standards.

Support of the broader mission of The Navigators and Glen Eyrie is foundational to this job. The attendant is expected to embody the organization’s values, engage with the community in a manner consistent with The Navigators’ calling, and contribute to fostering an inviting and spiritually uplifting environment. Supporting inventory management, assisting with staff training, and engaging in ongoing development events constitute additional components of this position. The role requires integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in both customer interaction and behind-the-scenes tasks.

Further responsibilities include participation in organizational reviews and surveys, cultural development and diversity training, and maintaining compliance with internal policies such as the Navigators Code of Conduct. Employees are expected to submit weekly time reports via the Workday Time Tracking system, adhere to flexible schedules, and be available primarily on weekends and during varying shift times.

Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to work within a faith-centered organization where spiritual growth and professional development are intertwined, providing meaningful work that supports both community outreach and operational efficiency. Whether interacting directly with patrons or managing inventory and training support, the Bookstore Attendant role is essential for delivering the quality service The Navigators aim to provide at Glen Eyrie and beyond.
