Job Description
The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division, located in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, is part of an international movement and a branch of the Christian Church dedicated to spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration of all individuals. The organization is motivated by the love of God and operates without discrimination to meet human needs in the name of Jesus Christ. The Salvation Army is widely respected for its wide-reaching community support programs that not only focus on religious missions but also on providing practical aid and services that uplift communities. Their Hawaiian division embodies this compassionate mission, offering a welcoming and supportive environment where families, individuals, and relationships flourish. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, also known as Kroc Center Hawaii, is an integral part of this mission and serves as a vibrant hub for community activities, health, and wellness, underlining its vision to be a place where families and individuals thrive in the name of Jesus.
The position available within this division is for a part-time Caf9 Attendant, stationed at the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. This role is essential to the day-to-day operation of the centers café, providing visitors with exceptional food and beverage service while upholding the high hygiene standards expected of a community-focused establishment. The position offers a pay rate of $14.00 per hour, classified as non-exempt, and requires flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays. The Café Attendant will be responsible for preparing both hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, tea, chai, smoothies, and frappes, alongside food preparation according to established recipes and safety standards.
A significant aspect of this role is the commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, reflecting its core values in daily professional conduct and community representation. This is more than a service role—it is an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause by providing high-quality customer service in a friendly, efficient, and caring manner. The Café Attendant will be tasked with maintaining clean and sanitary conditions throughout the service area, managing inventory levels including silverware, glassware, and utensils, and operating the point of sale system with accuracy and integrity. There is an emphasis on teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
The role also emphasizes ongoing adherence to The Salvation Army policies, procedures, and the Kroc Centers Code of Ethics, ensuring that the center remains a safe, welcoming, and respectful place for all visitors and staff. Staff members are expected to attend regular meetings and contribute to the organizational goals through diligent, punctual work attendance. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds or more occasionally, and working in busy environments near heated equipment. Additional responsibilities include immediate response to spills, maintaining clean dining areas, and running closing procedures at the cash register.
In summary, this Caf9 Attendant position at the Salvation Armys Kroc Center Hawaii is suited for individuals with an enthusiasm for customer service, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in supporting a faith-based community organization. It offers a supportive work environment where employees can grow professionally while making a positive impact on the lives of the centers members and guests.
