Job Description
SCHEELS is a renowned leader in the sporting goods industry in the United States, known for passionately serving customers who love the outdoors, sports, and fashion. Founded with a commitment to providing world-class products and customer experiences, SCHEELS has grown into a destination that offers not just gear but a lifestyle. This company is deeply invested in their associates, empowering them through extensive product training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. SCHEELS takes pride in creating an atmosphere where employees are not only expected to sell products but to live the brand and help customers discover new hobbies and passions. As a 100% employee stock-owned company, SCHEELS strengthens its culture by giving team members a stake in the company’s success through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This inclusive culture fosters personal growth alongside professional advancement, making SCHEELS an attractive place to work for those who thrive in energetic, customer-focused environments.
The role available at SCHEELS is centered around serving as a key part of their retail cafe and candy shop experience. Employees will become experts in crafting gourmet coffee, preparing delicious grill items, and hand-crafting signature fudge and candies. This position requires an individual who is passionate about providing excellent customer service, ensuring food safety, and maintaining a clean, professional work environment. The person in this role will also take on leadership tasks including managing cleaning schedules, overseeing cash handling, and mentoring new team members to promote operational excellence. This is a year-round position, not seasonal, requiring a commitment to consistently delivering quality hospitality experiences.
The work schedule averages 15-20 hours per week, primarily consisting of 2-3 evening shifts from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with mandatory product knowledge and team training sessions every other week on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Weekend work is also expected, with a minimum requirement of every other weekend covering Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The pay is based on a base hourly wage, reflecting the essential, and sometimes physically demanding nature of the role. Ideal candidates bring energy, punctuality, and a sincere desire to assist others, all while maintaining a positive attitude and contributing to a culture of respect and high morale.
Working at SCHEELS means joining a team that values community impact, offering paid time for volunteering, robust benefits such as health insurance, dental coverage, and extensive employee discounts. Employees are encouraged to thrive both personally and professionally, participating in programs that allow them to build wealth through stock ownership and 401(k) retirement savings. With an emphasis on inclusion and equal opportunity, SCHEELS welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. This opportunity is perfect for those passionate about food service, customer engagement, and working within a sports-driven retail environment.
