The role in question is within SCHEELS' food service segment, specifically at Ginna's Café, which delivers a diverse menu including fudge products, deli items, barista specialties, grilled foods, ice cream, baked goods, and more. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation, customer service, and working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality fudge and other food items, adhering strictly to food safety guidelines, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the café and kitchen areas. They will also participate actively in training new associates and ensuring compliance with cash control procedures during transactions.

This role demands versatility, requiring associates to perform a variety of duties ranging from food preparation to maintaining an orderly workspace and engaging positively with customers and team members. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to read and interpret safety rules and instructions, write reports when necessary, and address groups effectively. The position requires flexibility to work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include the ability to sit, stand, and lift weights up to 50 pounds, with careful adherence to safety protocols essential to minimize injury risks.

Job Duties

  • Prepare all fudge products and sell to customers
  • perform all Ginna's restaurant functions including deli line, barista, grill, ice cream, baked goods, and fudge
  • follow all food safety guidelines by state and local ordinances
  • ensure products are received and stored according to standard operating guidelines
  • assist in training new associates using kitchen tools, mentor checklists and SOPs
  • ensure cash control and till management as per Scheels Cashier Guidelines
  • manage and support side work, daily cleaning schedules, opening and closing procedures
  • maintain knowledge of cafe recipes and prepared foods
  • maintain clean and orderly workspace
  • be professional in appearance and attitude
  • perform basic math operations involving money and measurements
  • read and interpret safety rules and manuals
  • write routine reports and correspondence
  • speak effectively before groups
  • work varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • prepare various types of food, drinks, and ingredients
