The role of Café & Catering Associate at Thornburg offers a multifaceted opportunity within a dynamic workplace hospitality environment. This hands-on position plays a vital part in supporting daily café operations, food preparation, and maintaining a clean and inviting café space. Serving as a second-in-command to the Café Manager, the associate is instrumental in sustaining smooth workflow, operational consistency, and assisting with training initiatives. Beyond café responsibilities, the role expands into supporting catering activities for meetings and events, ensuring seamless setup, breakdown, and guest satisfaction. Additional duties include contributing to administrative tasks within Corporate Administration and providing backup reception coverage, reinforcing the multifaceted, collaborative nature of this position. Ideal candidates will be passionate about food service, possess strong organizational skills, and enjoy contributing to a supportive, professional environment. Job Requirements

  • experience in food service office services facilities or a similar role preferred
  • ability to obtain/maintain NMED-approved Food Handler Card
  • experience with expense reimbursement/management procedures a plus
  • proficiency in basic computer applications including email and Microsoft Office Suite
  • strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs
  • flexibility to work beyond normal office hours when called upon for coverage and special events
  • familiarity with or passion for food service vendor management and event coordination
  • customer service experience in a professional environment
  • problem-solving skills and a proactive can-do attitude

Job Duties

  • assist the Café Manager with all aspects of daily café operations including food preparation cooking assistance and maintaining health code standards
  • perform daily cleaning of café areas kitchen equipment and tools to ensure a safe sanitary environment
  • stock and restock café products monitor inventory levels and coordinate with vendors for deliveries
  • serve as a second-in-command to the Café Manager supporting workflow training and operational consistency
  • assist with catering setup breakdown and cleanup for meetings conferences and special events
  • coordinate conference room setups and ensure meeting spaces are reset with necessary supplies
  • greet and assist guests during events to ensure a positive experience
  • provide backup coverage at the reception desk greeting visitors issuing temporary badges and maintaining daily logs
  • assist with office supply management and vendor coordination
  • process expense reports for Corporate Administration as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned including support for special projects and events
