Job Description

Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is a family-owned and operated business with a rich history that traces back to the Prohibition era. It has grown to become one of the largest wine and spirits wholesalers in the United States. RNDC prides itself on a strong foundation built around its core values: Family, Service, Accountability, Honesty, and Professionalism. These guiding principles shape the organization’s culture, making it a vibrant and inclusive workplace that values employee growth and engagement. RNDC is dedicated to providing a supportive environment where individuals can build rewarding careers while contributing to the company’s mission and success. The company is also committed to promoting health and well-being for its associates through comprehensive health and wellness benefits.

RNDC currently seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable Sales Specialist to join its Control States Division, based in Columbus or Cincinnati, Ohio. This role is designed for a professional with extensive experience — a minimum of six years — in wine and/or spirits sales or a comparable combination of education and experience. The Sales Specialist will be responsible for managing a complex portfolio of clients and accounts, including major or highly specialized customers. The role requires a deep understanding of company and competitor offerings, market dynamics, and advanced sales techniques. The position offers a competitive salary range beginning at $54,600 and potentially reaching $78,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and other considerations. Additionally, there is the possibility of earning monthly commissions.

In this role, the Sales Specialist will demonstrate expert knowledge of specialized wine and spirits products, including fine wines, vintage selections, luxury brands, and portfolios assigned by specific suppliers. The Specialist will manage important marketing and sales activities, including organizing wine marker dinners, supplier market visits, and educational sessions to enhance customer understanding and appreciation of products. Responsibilities include developing and presenting sales proposals, training and mentoring sales staff, and collaborating with marketing to devise pricing strategies for unique product segments. The specialist will engage directly with customers through visits, presentations, and product demonstrations, aiming to grow the customer base and strengthen existing relationships. Additionally, the role involves managing customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries and resolving complaints following company policies.

The Sales Specialist is expected to work closely with District Managers and sales representatives, providing market insights and strategic guidance to ensure effective brand promotion and market penetration. This field-based role requires a valid driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and any necessary state Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) licenses or permits. The ability to travel within the assigned Ohio markets is essential. RNDC offers an inclusive and supportive work environment with numerous benefits such as a 401(k) plan with company matching, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and generous paid time off that can accumulate up to five weeks annually with carryover options. The company also supports work-life balance by providing paid volunteer, parental, and caregiver leave, along with fertility benefits and paid training opportunities. Life insurance and short-term disability coverage are included, as well as active participation in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. RNDC is an equal opportunity employer committed to compliance with all relevant laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act, and the Illinois Workplace Transparency Act. Accommodations are available for applicants requiring assistance throughout the hiring process. RNDC invites dedicated professionals passionate about the wine and spirits industry to join their team and contribute to many happy hours as industry experts.
