The role of a Busser at Eddie Merlot’s, part of Dividend Restaurant Group, plays a crucial role in delivering the high-quality guest service central to Eddie Merlot’s mission. Bussers support the dining room team by maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of tables, assisting in guest service, and ensuring the overall dining environment meets the restaurant’s standards. Key responsibilities include setting and resetting tables, refilling water glasses, serving bread and butter, restocking utensils and glassware, and assisting servers and bartenders. Bussers also respond swiftly to guest needs, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
This position is non-exempt, part-time or full-time depending on store needs, with a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional special events or banquets. It demands physical endurance, teamwork, and attention to detail as bussers spend significant time on their feet and must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- Meet state age requirement for the position
- Able to stand for 4 or more hours at a time
- Able to lift and carry 35 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to lift and carry loaded trays, move tables and chairs
- Physical ability to grasp, stoop, reach, balance, and perform related movements
- Able to work flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Work days and hours vary according to business needs
- Must follow all policies, procedures, standards, and applicable laws related to liquor, food handling, sanitation, and safety at all times
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be able to read and communicate in English clearly
- Prefer prior experience in restaurant, fine dining, or customer service
- Understanding of dining room service procedures, safety, sanitation, and food handling preferred
- Professional communication and social skills
- Self-motivated and able to work calmly under pressure
- Strong team-work orientation and well organized
- Able to take direction from others
- Professional attire and appearance consistent with restaurant standards
Job Duties
- Complete and pass required training modules
- Know your work schedule, arrive on time, and maintain professional appearance
- Communicate with manager about reservations, guest flow, and special events
- Set up station and dining room according to standards
- Maintain assigned dining room section, assist other sections as needed
- Bake and serve bread and butter with refills
- Keep water glasses filled
- Follow table maintenance and dish removal standards
- Package take-home items correctly and deliver to guests
- Thank guests and invite them to return
- Bus, set, and reset tables according to specifications
- Perform side duties, closing duties, and other tasks assigned by manager
- Maintain clean and orderly service stations
- Provide basic information about Eddie Merlot's to guests
- Follow company policies and all relevant safety, sanitation, and food handling laws
- Communicate guest requests, complaints, and improvement ideas to management
- Work scheduled meetings, banquets, and special events
- Assist team members with their station duties and sidework as needed
