The Duffy's Busser/Barback position plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the restaurant by assisting servers and bartenders in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining and bar areas. The Busser/Barback ensures that guests receive timely and attentive support, contributing directly to a positive guest experience. This role involves a variety of responsibilities that focus on keeping the service areas clean, stocked, and efficiently managed throughout each shift. As a Busser/Barback at Duffy's, your daily duties will include clearing and resetting tables promptly to minimize wait times for incoming guests. You will be responsible for collecting used dishes and tableware, ensuring they are transported correctly to the kitchen for cleaning. Maintaining cleanliness is critical, which means wiping down tables, seats, counters, and other surfaces is part of the job to uphold sanitary standards and provide a pleasant dining environment.

In addition to cleaning responsibilities, the role requires managing supplies needed during the shift such as ice, plates, glasses, and condiments, ensuring they are readily available for servers and bartenders. Stocking and replenishing the bar area by restocking wines, bottled beers, and replacing empty beer kegs also falls under this role. Maintaining the cleanliness of restrooms and handling trash disposal tasks are essential duties that contribute to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Job Duties

  • scrape and stack dirty dishes and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
  • wipe tables or seats with dampened cloths or replace dirty tablecloths
  • set tables
  • clean up spilled food or drink or broken dishes and remove empty bottles and trash
  • maintain adequate supplies of items needed throughout the shift such as ice, plates, glasses, and sauces
  • locate items requested by guests
  • clean counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of restaurants
  • wash glasses or other serving equipment at bars
  • stock refrigerating units with wines or bottled beer or replace empty beer kegs
  • maintain bathroom cleanliness
  • complete all running side-work throughout shift
  • keep floor clean- sweep, mop, or vacuum
  • dispose of trash on the dumpster and placing new bags in trash bins
  • maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers
