Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, operating a collection of restaurants under the beloved Australian-themed Outback Steakhouse brand. Since opening its doors in March of 1988, Outback Steakhouse has become renowned for delivering high-quality food with a unique and fun dining experience. As part of Out West Restaurant Group, the company maintains a strong commitment to its people, whom they affectionately call "Outbackers," and strives to foster a culture of respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm. The organization strongly believes that treating people "Just Right" not only promotes employee success but also enhances guest satisfaction and overall business performance. This outlook creates a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and part of a dedicated team.
At Outback Steakhouse, the focus is on providing each guest with an "AUS-SOME" dining experience. The company emphasizes the importance of personalized and tailored service, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and valued. The business operates with a hospitable culture that recognizes hard work, perseverance, and leadership, fostering an environment where employees can grow professionally and have enjoyable careers. Out West Restaurant Group has earned accolades such as the Monitor 200 Award for ranking among the top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and was honored as the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year in 2022 for outstanding community service.
The company is committed to fair employment practices and provides equal opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. Employees can expect comprehensive benefits, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), paid sick leave in accordance with California law, meal discounts, flexible scheduling, and access to an Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, Outback Steakhouse closes on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day to allow employees to spend quality time with their families and friends.
This position is an hourly, non-exempt role paying $16.90 plus tips, making it ideal for individuals seeking a fun and dynamic work environment with opportunities for career advancement through programs like the Shift Leader training. The role as an Outbacker includes contributing to a positive guest experience by diligently performing bussing duties, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the restaurant, and ensuring customer satisfaction through excellent service delivery. The employee will be expected to have knowledge of the menu to upsell and recommend food and beverage items confidently, answer phones professionally, and demonstrate teamwork throughout the restaurant operation. Commitment to safe food handling practices and sanitation are essential to this role, reflecting the company’s dedication to quality and safety standards.
Working for Out West Restaurant Group means joining a team that values dedication, teamwork, and hospitality. The company encourages continuous professional growth, making it an excellent choice for those looking to build a rewarding career in the restaurant industry. The employment relationship is at-will, with compliance to all applicable California wage, hour, and labor laws, including the California Equal Pay Act and other worker protections. As part of its commitment to integrity, all new hires will undergo an Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification (E-Verify) process. Out West Restaurant Group also supports local communities through charitable contributions to organizations that assist restaurant employees and their families, reinforcing their role as a responsible and caring employer.
