Job Description
Southern Kitchen Restaurant is a beloved dining establishment located in the vibrant Stony Point Fashion Park in Richmond, VA. Renowned for its authentic Southern cuisine, heartfelt hospitality, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, Southern Kitchen brings the rich traditions and flavors of the South to every guest's table. The restaurant's philosophy revolves around the idea that every team member plays an essential role in creating memorable dining experiences, encapsulated in their motto: "If it is to be, it's up to me." This culture of ownership and pride permeates every aspect of the restaurant's operations, encouraging staff to take initiative and foster a genuine connection with guests.
Southern Kitchen is much more than a place to enjoy a meal. It is a space where community and tradition meet, where guests feel welcomed as family, and where the food is prepared and served with genuine care. From perfectly fried catfish to creamy mac and cheese, every dish reflects the passion and pride that the team has for their craft. Southern Kitchen is committed to excellence not only in food quality but also in guest service, creating an environment where every visit is memorable and every customer is treated with the utmost respect and warmth.
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Floor Support team member to join us in the dual-role position of Busser / Food Runner. This critical role supports both the front-of-house and kitchen teams by ensuring that tables are cleaned and reset promptly, guests receive accurate and timely food deliveries, and the overall guest experience remains seamless and enjoyable. The Busser / Food Runner serves as the backbone of the dining room, maintaining cleanliness, managing the flow of service, and assisting servers and kitchen staff to create an efficient and welcoming environment.
In this part-time position, you will work 8-hour shifts, including weekend availability, supporting the dynamic and fast-paced restaurant environment. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $12.77 to $15.00 per hour plus tips. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and looking to grow their careers in the restaurant industry. At Southern Kitchen, you will receive comprehensive training from experienced leaders, be part of a supportive and collaborative team culture, and have opportunities to advance within the company.
As a Busser / Food Runner at Southern Kitchen, your responsibilities will include greeting guests warmly, quickly pre-bussing and resetting tables, maintaining menu cleanliness, refilling water glasses, and supporting servers with seamless table turnover. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering food promptly and accurately from the kitchen to the guests, ensuring each order is accurately accompanied by the necessary silverware, napkins, and share plates. You will also maintain the cleanliness and organization of the expo line and kitchen service areas, restock utensils, and communicate any guest dietary needs or allergy concerns to the appropriate team members immediately.
Teamwork and communication are vital aspects of this role. You will collaborate closely with servers, hosts, managers, and kitchen staff to maintain smooth service flow while adhering to sanitation and safety standards at all times. The ability to thrive under pressure, multitask efficiently, and maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor is essential to succeed in this role.
If you enjoy fast-paced environments, love great food, and thrive working as part of a dedicated team, Southern Kitchen welcomes you to apply and be part of their story - a place where soul meets service and every team member is valued and respected.
