The Busser position at Monterey Beach Hotel in Monterey, CA, is crucial to delivering exemplary guest service and maintaining the impeccable standards of cleanliness that Highgate Hotels is known for. As a Busser, you will assist servers to ensure guests enjoy an efficient and pleasant dining experience. This role involves meticulous attention to the cleanliness and presentation of tables, including setting with clean china, glassware, silverware, and linens at all times. You will be responsible for keeping work areas stocked and organized according to meal periods, breaking down trays in the dish room, and supporting servers by delivering beverages, pre-bussing tables, and responding promptly to guest requests. The Busser is also expected to perform daily opening and closing duties following standardized procedures. This full-time hourly position is ideal for individuals who value teamwork, attention to detail, and take pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ability to stand for the duration of the shift and handle physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 100 pounds is essential. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant settings preferred
  • Ability to work full-time hours including flexible schedules
  • Capacity to perform physically demanding work such as lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods during shifts
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and high service standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
  • Previous restaurant experience encouraged
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Heavy work - exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

Job Duties

  • Keep all work areas clean and properly stocked according to the current meal period
  • Keep all tables cleaned and properly set according to property specific standards
  • Break down trays of soiled dishes and linen in the dish room area according to established standards
  • Assist servers by delivering and refilling beverages, pre-bussing tables, and promptly resolving any guest requests
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties and cleaning according to established side-work checklist
  • Provide service to guests in waiter's absence as needed
  • Maintain beverage levels in glasses/cups on table at least full at all times (coffee, tea, soda, lemonade, and water)
