Job Description

Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States. Outback Steakhouse is a renowned Australian-themed restaurant that has been delighting customers since its opening in March 1988. Known for its unique approach to hospitality and commitment to quality dining experiences, Outback Steakhouse combines serious dedication to food with a fun and friendly atmosphere. Out West Restaurant Group operates under these principles, embracing a culture that values respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm. The company treats its employees, whom they affectionately call "Outbackers," as family and believes that by treating people "Just Right," success will naturally follow. Their dedication extends beyond just great food and service; they are also deeply committed to the development and growth of their staff, providing comprehensive training and career advancement opportunities.

Working at Out West Restaurant Group means joining a vibrant team with a hospitable culture that recognizes hard work, perseverance, and leadership. The company prioritizes the success and potential of every employee through programs like the Shift Leader program, which offers extensive on-the-job training. Employees enjoy a flexible schedule, meal discounts, and a workplace environment that closes on major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas to allow family time. Out West Restaurant Group is committed to diversity and inclusion, upholding equal opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. The company’s accolades include rankings such as the Monitor 200 Award, recognizing it as one of the top 50 franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years, and the International Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year Award for exemplary local community service in 2022.

The role being offered is an hourly, non-exempt position with an hourly wage of $16.90 plus tips. As an Outbacker, you will embody the spirit of the Outback Steakhouse by delivering an "AUS-SOME" dining experience. Your primary responsibility is to create memorable first and last impressions for guests while supporting the restaurant's goal of providing perfectly tailored service to every customer. The key focus of this role is to maintain a smooth guest experience by performing essential duties such as bussing tables, cleaning, resetting dining areas, and attending to cleanliness and service needs in public spaces.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will be knowledgeable about the menu to recommend and upsell products effectively, answer and direct phone calls professionally, and exhibit teamwork by assisting in multiple areas of the restaurant as business demands. A strong commitment to safe food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures is expected. This position requires physical stamina and dexterity, as you will frequently stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout your shifts. Candidates must be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including hot and cold areas and low or dim lighting.

Out West Restaurant Group also mandates certain certifications for California-based employees, including Responsible Beverage Service Certification, which can be completed during training. The company fully complies with California labor laws and regulations such as equal pay, wage and hour laws, and provides reasonable accommodations as required by law. Employment is at-will, and new hires must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

In summary, this opportunity at Out West Restaurant Group offers more than just a job. It is a chance to be part of a supportive and energetic team with prospects for personal and professional growth, a culture that values each employee, and benefits that enhance the work-life balance. If you are looking for a rewarding career in hospitality with a fun and respected brand, Outback Steakhouse welcomes you to apply and become an integral part of the Outback family.
