Job Description

Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States, known for its Australian-themed dining experience since its inception in 1988. Outback Steakhouse takes pride in delivering serious quality food mixed with a fun atmosphere, striving to create memorable and enjoyable experiences for every guest. The company focuses on fostering a culture of respect, camaraderie, and enthusiasm among its employees, whom it affectionately calls "Outbackers." Out West Restaurant Group emphasizes a supportive and inclusive workplace where success follows naturally from treating people "Just Right." The organization is committed to fairness, respect, and equal opportunity, ensuring that employment decisions are based solely on business needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications without bias or discrimination.

This position is an hourly, non-exempt role offering a competitive wage of $16.90 per hour plus tips. Working as an Outbacker means joining a team focused on providing outstanding customer service and tangible hospitality, contributing to the iconic Outback Steakhouse experience. You'll be responsible for creating AUS-SOME dining experiences for guests by maintaining a clean, efficient, and friendly restaurant environment. Duties include bussing and resetting tables, supporting the cleanliness and service standards in dining and public areas, handling phone calls, and being knowledgeable about the menu to recommend and upsell items effectively.

Beyond the core responsibilities, this role offers exceptional growth potential with programs like the Shift Leader development training. The company cultivates a hospitable, fun, and hard-working culture that acknowledges effort and leadership while maintaining a flexible schedule for employees. Out West Restaurant Group offers essential benefits such as comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision coverage for those eligible under ACA measurement rules, paid sick leave compliant with California laws, and meal discounts. Additionally, the company strongly supports work-life balance by closing on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas so employees can spend valued time with family and friends.

Joining the Outback family means becoming part of a team that values safety, employee assistance, and career advancement. The organization also prioritizes safe food handling, sanitation protocols, and workplace safety procedures to ensure a secure working environment. The company is dedicated to complying with all relevant California labor laws, including wage and hour regulations and equal pay requirements.

With a strong commitment to community engagement, Out West Restaurant Group has earned notable recognitions such as the Monitor 200 Award for being among the top 50 franchisees nationally for four consecutive years, and the 2022 International Franchise Association Award for exemplary local community service. The company also contributes to non-profit organizations supporting restaurant employees and their families during challenging times.

Overall, this role is ideal for individuals who enjoy a dynamic, customer-centric work environment, want to grow within a well-respected restaurant franchise, and value a supportive team culture that recognizes hard work with opportunities for advancement.
